Agfa Monotype has announced the release of 22 new fonts that are now available exclusively via the Fonts.com Web site. The new fonts are organized into six different typeface families: Tugboat Annie, Mustang Sally, Woodley Park, Cruz Handy, Maidenhead and Haarlemmer. Tugboat Annie and Mustang Sally were developed by "typographic archaeologist" Nick Curtis, who derived his inspiration for the typefaces from a classic type manual. Mustang Sally is an art deco style typeface with a triline design, and stylized capitals. Tugboat Annie is described as "a tamer, solid version" based on the same design. Nick Curtis also created Woodley Park, which is based on an all-caps typeface called Sylvan – which Curtis discovered in a 1930s type specimen book from Hell-Edwards Composition. It's described as a "versatile, single-weight design with a 1930s personality-Garamond meets Jean Harlow." Cruz Handy was created by Ray Cruz, and it's a two-weight family of scripts. Swash letters and logotypes are included. Richard Yeend created Maidenhead, which was named after a small English town on the River Thames. It utilizes square capitals and contrasting "painterly" lowercase letters. It's a three-weight family. Haarlemmer is Frank E Blockland's recreation of a never-produced Jan Van Krimpen typeface. Haarlemmer is twelve-weight family. All the new typefaces are on display on the new fonts page at Fonts.com.
