The D&AD's New Blood exhibition of work is a great place to see new talent across graphic design, visual communication, illustration, digital design and motion. Here's our pick of the best work.
Along with Simon Manchipp, Ian Wharton, Michael Johnson, Nat Hunter, Jeremy Leslie and others, I was one of the judges tasked with finding the best work at the D&AD's New Blood exhibition, which features work by creative graduates and institutions. Paired with Simon, we went in search of the best work from nine of the 80-odd stands to award Best In Show badges too. Later Digital Arts art editor Johann Chan joined me for a tour of the rest of the stands to bring you our guide to what got us all hot and bothered.
The trends were the same as at many of the grad shows we've been to this year: advertising graduates presenting themselves as agencies, infographics, big bold type, indie comic influenes, and honed concepts as well as craft.
D&AD New Blood is open today and tomorrow at the Old Spitalfields Market between Liverpool St Station and Brick Lane in London. Exhibiting institutions include Middlesex University, University College Falmouth, American InterContinental University London, Edinburgh Napier University, Glasgow School of Art, Bath Spa University, Ravensbourne, University of the West of England, University of Westminster, Kingston University and The Arts University College at Bournemouth.
