Isay Slutsker was a veteran of World War II. In 1949 he graduated from Moscow Printing Institute. He worked at the Type Design Department of the National Printing Research Institute (NIIPoligrafmash) from 1949 to 1991. Slutsker also freelanced as book designer and illustrator, working for Moscow publishers Prosveshchenie and Khudozhestvennaya Literatura. From 1991 he worked for ParaGraph (now ParaType), designing typefaces. He created many type families, Greek, Cyrillic and Latin, as well as Oriental scripts.
